Ola Amigos from Mexico

Hi everyone I am in sunny Mexico. Today we went to an ECO park in the jungle called XPLOR. It was really fun but pretty tiring. The park is about 39 minutes away from our hotel and is built in the jungle and trees of the forest.
The first activity I did was zip lining across the treetops about 80 metres in the air. There were 15 towers we had to get across to and a couple of times I got stuck because I didn't weigh enough to get all the way to the end of the line. The staff had to crawl out and pull me back in. The next activity was the underground river swim. I had to swim for about a kilometre through an underground river system in the dark and at the end was a massive waterfall. Next I went rafting with my dad which was funny because he was being lazy and making me paddle the boat on my own for the whole family. We kept running into rocks. The last activity was the amphibious vehicles and we went driving at top speed through the jungle, me and dad rammed mum and Jack from behind because they weren't going fast like us. When we got to the  first river, dad reversed back up the hill and went down at full speed and got us soaking wet. He even jumped the car a bit and gave it a car wash in mud.
He was being annoying because he parked it under a waterfall so I would get wet so I pushed on the accelerator and made the car drive forward. It was a top a day.
We are staying right on the beach and the water is so blue and clean we are swimming everyday. Next week we are going caving in xenotes which are underground watering holes. We are also going to sail to one of the islands. I will send more photos soon.

Orlando and Florida

Hi everyone, we are in Orlando, Florida after stopping in Miami. Orlando is very hot and we have been swimming so much that I am so brown and tanned on my shoulders.
on Tuesday we went to Universal Studios, it was great. I went on every single ride twice and I was tall enough to go on the extreme roller coaster The Hulk ride. I also went to Harry Potter World and bought Butter Beer which was delicious. I also bought a wand from Ollivanders and it is a special one because I followed a map around Diagon Alley and could do spells at shop windows and things would happen because of the wand. I could swish and flick and make the fountain shoot high or make a statue sparkle, it was awesome.
The Harry Potter rides were so good. We could walk through Hogwarts to get to the ride and saw all the talking pictures. We could also walk through Hogsmeade and by lots of Hatty Potter stuff.
Today we went to wet and wild water park but didn't take the camera so it wouldn't get wet. The hotel we are staying in is called Cabana Bay and it is like an old sixties hotel with vintage cars, bowling and pools. We fly to Mexico on Sunday night so one'll write again then. Hope it isn't too cold. Bye from Rohan

New Orleans and the state of Louisiana

Hi everyone, I am in New Orleans. I have been walking a lot seeing all the houses and the streets of New Orleans. The city has a lot of history. We are staying in a part of the city called The French Quarter. This is where all the vampire to shows and books are based. One of my favourite shows is a vampire series called The Originals, I have been looking at all the places where they film.
Yesterday we went on a big tour of the swamp and some of the old plantation houses.
The swamp tour was awesome because I held an alligator and threw marshmallows in the water for the raccoons. We saw about twenty alligators in the swamp. They have snakes in the trees in the swamp sober had to be careful.
Then we went to see sugar plantations. I learnt that on the plantations the slaves were treated really badly. The guide told a story about a slave who ran away in the fields through the sugar cane but he got caught and dragged back to the lady who owned the plantation. He then was punished by being burnt with a cattle brand on his head so everyone knew who he belonged to. It buy a hard working slave it cost around $100,000

Mr Lincoln and Mr Obama by Rohan

Hi miss Wells, I have been in Washington DC this week. Washington DC is the capital of the US just like Canberra is the capital of Oz. I walked all the way to the White House where president Obama works. I even got to go in an office nearby and sit in his Oval Office with Jack. The best bit of the day was going to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. It was great and his statue was huge. Afterwards we hired some bikes and rode over the river to Arlington cemetery. This is where all of the young soldiers who have died in war are buried. There are thousands and thousands of white grave markers in the cemetery. Pretty sad  and i think it is unforgivable to lose that many people.
Our hotel was next to the fire station and they had an awesome car parked out front. It was a dodge camero. Very cool! I will write again when I get to New Orleans. Stay tuned for cool stuff when I get back and let me know if there is anything I can get for you. Cheers from Rohan

Update from Rohan

I have been to the 9/11 memorial and it is a pretty sad and special place. More than 3000 people died when the twin towers buildings were hit by two planes. The building metal warped from the heat of the explosion and the two tallest towers fell to the ground crushing everything. The best bit of the memorial was seeing the things that people had done to thank and help all the firefighters and police  who were there risking their lives to save people. We found a name on the memorial water feature and then looked up the name on the database inside the museum. The person who we looked up was Sean Patrick Tallon and he was a firefighter in the 21st Hook and Ladder Company. Sean used to be a marine and was only 29 years old and was only just completing his probation period as a firefighter when he died saving people from the towers. Some of the photos below show all the damage to the fire trucks from the building collapse.

Hi Miss Wells and the Abraham Lincolns

Hey miss Wells and the Abraham Lincolns. I am now in New York and I have been to the top of the Empire State Building. It was way too high. Then I went to Central Park and watched some break dancing teams. But the best thing of all was going to the M & M shop and buying lots of chocolate. America is really really busy and there's lots of junk food. We are going to the 9-11 memorial tomorrow which is pretty special place. I will post again soon. Seems Rohan

Brooklyn Night Bazaar

Post from Supermum2012: What a day New York put on today. Beautiful spring day which saw me checking out the hip hop guys scamming the tourists in Central Park and finishing it off with a trip over the bridge to the Brooklyn Night Bazaar for the best pork sliders in the known universe. It completely looked like the dodgiest door to nowhere when we first got dropped off in the middle of a random Brooklyn Street but this converted car park by day becomes a groovy little night market after 7pm.
